President’s Message – Spring 2019

As we get ready for boating season, many of us are just beginning to put our boats in the water. It was a beautiful Memorial Day weekend and we hope some of you were out on a lake. At our annual meeting aboard the Winni Belle on June 2nd, the following members were nominated and approved for positions on the board: Patrick Obed for Vice President and Phil Spencer for the Director position vacated by Patrick Obed. This year’s President’s Award went to Patrick Obed for his many hours helping to launch and retrieve boats at the July boat show. Patrick was in the water at the launch ramp in his waders, helping to get boats off and on trailers. Thank you Patrick for taking that on!

Our Annual Lake Winnipesaukee Antique and Classic Boat show will be Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Wolfeboro town docks. Information about the show and registration forms are on the following pages 8-10. Phil Spencer and Kim Knapp have been working hard to finalize Friday and Saturday meal venues. The New Hampshire Boat Museum in Wolfeboro has once again offered to host the Friday evening cocktail reception. O Bistro will be catering, and as always, we expect their appetizers to be delicious. The Wolfetrap in Wolfeboro is again hosting our Saturday evening awards banquet and we thank them too for their hospitality.

At this time, we do not have a Cutwater newsletter editor as Scott Hayes has relinquished that responsibility. Scott has been our editor for many years and has produced a quality publication. We will miss his unique humor and his articles on boat restoration. THANK YOU SCOTT FOR A JOB WELL DONE! In the meantime, we are looking for someone to take over this position. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Scott Robinson at woodboatfan@gmail.com. The newsletter is a combined effort between the editor, Carol Cloutier, and our chapter president. The editor sends Carol articles and pictures and Carol does the layout and coordination with the printer. The newsletter is sent out 4 times a year. We have several members who are regular contributors.

Until we have an editor for the Cutwater, please check here on the website for updates and information. This next edition of the Cutwater as well as boat show information and registration forms will be posted there. Also, watch for emails from membership@acbs.org. These emails are sent out by our local chapter secretary to inform the members about upcoming events

This year the Antique Race Boat Regatta will once again be at the Wolfeboro town docks between September 13th and 14th. This event is sponsored by the New Hampshire Boat Museum with help and support from our local ACBS chapter.
